2011 Color Trends

If you are getting married in 2011 and haven't decided on your color palette yet, listen up!  Where do you get inspiration?  Do you skim through magazines or spend hours on-line?  Or do you get your inspiration from your favorite outfit, your favorite flower, or even your favorite food?  Either way, these are all good places to start.  The upcoming color trends for 2011 are farm, order, escape, and tribe inspired.  What does this mean you may ask?

Farm: think fruit and vegetable stands, rich brown soil, anything wood, burlap and bailer twine, centerpieces don't need to be floral either, think about props that you see on the farm from the tools, to the boxes, and feed bags that food comes in.

Order: Simplistic and bold geometrical colors and patterns like stripes and polka dots, think black and white with pops of color, and even monochromatic color schemes.

Escape: Whimsy, magical, and fairytale-esque colors, like pearl, creams, ivory, and light pinks, more of an idea of escaping from reality.

Tribe: Yes, you've guessed it, from Africa to Australia and anywhere in between, anything tribal will go. Rich oranges, berries, textured browns, bronze, beading, and sketching.

Peonies or Cabbage Roses?

We love peonies, but understand that they are not in season when you want them to be, let's say for an August wedding perhaps.  We've got a new replacement for you brides out there that love peonies.  Enter the Cabbage Rose.

Table Number Ideas

destination wedding Planning, Traverse City Wedding PlanningCouldn't help but post this picture from Andy Wakeman Photography of a great table number idea.  This comes from our past couple Teal and David.  Their animals are very important to them, and Teal works very hard saving dogs and other pets in her everyday life.  Incorporate something you love and are passionate about on your wedding day!

Reds on the River

Sherrie and I had the splendid opportunity to have lunch with Anne Gallup, of Reds on the River, located in Rockford, MI.  Anne is in charge of networking and marketing this fabulous restaurant and invited us out to take a look at their private dining room, perfect for rehearsal dinners!  Executive Chef, Glenn Forgie, cooks up top notch made-to-order dishes using fresh, local ingredients, he is extremely meticulous about his food, and is customer service driven.  Sherrie and I both had the Shrimp Chop Salad, a yummy mixture of greens, fresh veggies, marinated shrimp, blue cheese crumbles, and onion crisps, tossed in a creamy dressing.  My mouth is watering just writing about it!  The private dining room  is located through a separate entrance into the wine retail shop, famous for good wine at a great price, it has a warm and cozy lodge feel to it, where it overlooks the Rogue River.  The room seats about 32, and Chef Glenn prepares dishes off his private dining menu, or can customize as well.  If you are searching for the perfect rehearsal dinner, search no further!
